How to Get CRAZY Organic Reach

Jan 7th, 2015No Comments

Getting your posts to naturally (organically) appear in your fan’s news feeds is tough these days, and not getting any easier. Facebook limits what goes into our news feeds based on many things, including (but not limited to):

  • Pages you have liked
  • Things you like, comment and share on your personal accounts
  • What your friends are talking about
  • When you’re online
  • What type of content you engage (photo, video, link)
  • How long you watch a video
  • The websites you visit once you leave Facebook
  • Your profile information

And on, and on, and on. So Facebook in its devious and algorithmic ways “helps” us by trying to show us only what they believe we like. So how do we run THAT gauntlet as business page owners?

On January 27th, at 1pm EST I will be hosting a live webinar to chat about this, but here’s a teaser:

  1. Use the right words: Things like “congratulations” or anything “new” (house, car, job, etc.) mean “celebrate!” to Facebook. They know that people love to celebrate cool things in peoples’ lives so they push that to the top of the news feeds.
  2. Upload more than one image at a time: If you’ve got 2-3 images you can upload for a post, do it! Again, Facebook figures that this is a “celebration” time, so they’ll push it to the top of your fans’ news feeds. Don’t do more than 3 though, or they get all squishy.
  3. Post a variety of content: Particularly photos and videos. These work wonders because they’re the most consumable type of content. Links require reading, but it’s easy to pop open a picture or watch a video.
  4. Keep your topics varied: Not everyone is going to see your stuff if you ONLY post about one topic. Go for variety! Talk about what you like to do, where you’ve been or going, bucket list stuff, inspiration/motivation stuff, community info or ideas, etc. Vary the content and you have a greater chance of getting to people. Remember this: you may all follow the exact same people and pages, but based on how you interact with them, Facebook will change what appears in your news feed. It’s Facebook Death to only post about one topic. And it’s boring. Don’t be boring.

So there you go! I’ll be giving a bunch of examples on the webinar, but you’ve got something to chew on for today.

I’ll be sending the link shortly for the webinar but bookmark it! It’s free and I usually charge thousands to do this for my clients. Get in early and reserve your seat!
